Chevy Corvette Buying Tips

Did you know that many people consider the corvette to be America’s first genuinely made sports car? Corvette started work on their first car in 1953 and proceeded to issue six unique generation of the favorite corvette. These generations are referred to as C1, C2, C3, C4, C5 and C6, with C6 being the more current generation. The C2 stands out for its own unique salvage corvette for sale.

The C1 generation of corvettes was produced from 1953 through 1962. The next generation, C2, produced the first corvette of its kind. This car was the Corvette Sting Ray coupe. Larry Shinoda was the designer behind this car and Bill Mitchell gave it its identifying name. The Sting Ray was an instant success for these two men and they continued to produce other popular 1958 corvette replica.

So why did these cars become instant classics? Patriotism is one of the reasons behind the popularity of the C2 generation corvettes. These were the first real American-made sports cars of their kind. Power is another reason behind their popularity. These corvette sports cars were made with impressive power, starting with a 365 horsepower engine in 1963’s corvette. Each car from that point was created a bit more powerful than the one before.

Yet another reason is behind the C2 generation’s popularity. It is one of the first sports cars that offered riders a truly comfortable riding experience. The C2 generation features an independent rear suspension system as well as features that were cutting edge for the time period. Buyers could enjoy their new corvette with both AM/FM radio as well as air conditioning for true, all-around comfort.

The original C2 designs did, however, pose some safety concerns that were quickly resolved by the manufacturer. For example, the rear window was designed to be split yet it didn’t allow for safe driving as the view was limited. The brakes were upgraded in 1965 to a four-wheel disc brake, which made stopping much faster and safer. It was this year that the V8 “big block” engine became available, too. Finally, the 1965 C2 was the first to use side exhaust pipes, which were then changed in barbie corvette.

The C2 corvette really hit its stride just after 1965. Many consider the 1966 corvette model to be the best and most popular corvette ever produced. The 1966 corvette was followed by the 1967 C2 corvette and it was the last of what is arguably the best generation of corvettes ever made.
